Imagine a typical day of a field scout.
In the morning before leaving home they have to print the scoring sheets for the trial or trials they’ll visit during the day. Then they have to find the trial locations in a mapping app and drive to the trial. Capture the observation manually noting down all the scores, notes and comments on paper. While doing that they need to calculate average size of the fruit, total yield per square meter or assess disease spread across many plants in one number. Finally they need to document the observation with photos, making sure that they have a way to connect each photo with the correct variety and remember why the photo was taken. After they’re done with the field work, they need to perform the ‘office part’ of their job. The paper scoring sheet needs to be input to Excel, the photos need to be copied from mobile or camera, allocated to correct varieties (renamed, put in the right folder), and finally the ready report prepared and sent to product management

The post-field processing is made completely redundant – the scout has the time for other activities. No need to input Excel sheets, manage photos or prepare trial reports!
